Cheaper by the Dozen - April

Cheaper by the Dozen, a baker's dozen, is a summary outline of ponderings, if you will... My shortcut strategy to spout-off and over-share personal opinions (crap) no one gives a flying fuck about.

1) Maybe Hostess Brands, Inc. should get a bailout. I mean, are we ready for a world without Twinkies?

2) Corporations are Constant Gardener's and the media, fertilizer.

3) If you hear anyone say tax cuts alone will get the economy growing and fix the problem, don't believe it. Spending cuts AND tax increases are necessary.

4) I wish we'd turn our focus to harnessing cleaner, renewable energy like solar, wind and biofuels instead of clinging to and fighting over our dependence on fossil fuel. It bothers me to think the majority of the proposed Keystone pipeline oil, in all probability, will be exported to other countries after putting our environment and citizens at risk.

5) Lobbyists are out of control.

6) There are women, and then there are nacho average women. I dig Hilary.

7) I think psychologist John Gottman is onto something. He calls the Four Horsemen of relationship apocalypse: withdrawal, criticism, defensiveness, and, above all, contempt. He warns that if these elements characterize your relationship, you might want to hang on to that loft-for-one.

8) Happiness is a Stephen King trifecta. As of this moment, "The Dark Tower" series is getting the HBO treatment... Dreamworks and Showtime are slated to produce "Under the Dome." ... and "Dr. Sleep", a sequel to "The Shining", is presently in the works... We'll see what actually comes to fruition.

9) A suit shouldn’t wear the man—the man should wear the suit.

10) Are we lost to our keyboards and tiny touch screens? Is resistance to technology futile? Take a break from your iToys to focus on the important things in your lives that both matter and that we can control.

11) I'm mad about food boosting... you know, adding nutritious ingredients to boostable dishes such as, omelettes, burritos, pizza, sandwiches, salads, lasagna, baked potatoes, oatmeal, soup, basically, any dish that tastes great with accoutrements. When I found out that celery is actually better for us than originally thought, my eyes were really opened to the possibility of actually conquering the daily food pyramid. It takes some thought and effort, but its a doable task with benefits.

12) Virtual pet spider anyone? Make him bigger, speed him up, feed him or... take him for a drag. ;)

13) “I am a sinner who does not expect forgiveness. But I am not a government official.” ~ Mr. W

Envelop me...

Using a standard Bic Biro pen, London-based artist Mark Powell creates delicate, detailed portraits of the aged on the backs of old envelopes. One, I love the simplicity of sketches. Two, his subject matter is quite endearing to me. And three, by using a canvas that is a precious bearer of a dying form of communication, he completes a romantic trifecta with his art.

Check out more of Mark's work @
